I've passed my final school year, now what?

8 key questions that will help young people discover their calling.

I want to congratulate all the learners on passing your final year of school. It's an exciting time with a lot of new opportunities. For some of you, this season of life can be very daunting with more questions than answers.

You might be looking at various options: Should I go to university or college? What course should I pursue? Can I start my own business? Must I take a gap year instead? This is all important and very difficult decisions school leavers are currently facing.

For me, it all boils down to your life purpose. I think it's crucial for parents and school teachers to guide learners in discovering their life purpose from a young age. Every parent plays a very important role from birth in shaping their children and helping them discover their true calling in life.

I've put together a few questions that can guide learners and parents in discovering their true calling in life:

1. What grips your attention, perhaps even making you very angry or very sad, when browsing a newspaper?

2. ‎Who am I passionate to serve? (Children, business people, college students, disabled, farmers, parents etc)

3. ‎I love to... (I have a passion for?)

4. ‎What issues, possible needs excite or concern you most?

5. ‎What skills/abilities do you have? What job experience do you have? How can you use it to serve others? (Examples: Budgeting, Charting, Editing, Directing, Developing, Coaching, Explaining)

6. ‎I believe my most valuable personal assets are...

7. ‎My favorite subject in school has been...

8. ‎My dreams: - 5 years... - ‎10 years... - ‎15 years...

These 8 key questions will ultimately guide you to more than just pursuing a career. It'll enable you to walk in your full potential. What you do after school is much more important than money, status, or a specific career. It goes much deeper than the above-mentioned material things. What are you called for now? How are you created? How does your shape look? When you can answer these deeper questions, then you'll definitely have an adventurous and fulfilled life.
